(Oil on Canvas)
This piece was very ioosely inspired by Styx, the Greek river goddess. She was not only a river goddess, but the river itself. I feel that oneness every time I’m in a natural body of water. I’m reminded that we are made of the same stuff, and it feels like home.
Styx was a passageway from life to death, as souls were ferried over her dark waters into the underworld. When we begin our earthly encounter we emerge from a dark watery home, so it seems fitting to think of the end as a journey back, crossing through the waters once again.
Signed, varnished, and finished with a gold frame. Canvas measures 20’x24” and frame measures 26”x30”.
