(Oil on Canvas)
This piece was inspired by the goddess Persephone, who we associate with the changing of the seasons. Here we see the figure dressed in black, facing away from the light, signaling the end of Summer and her fall back into darkness. In her hand is a pomegranate, a symbol of temptation, pulling her deeper down. She has time now to indulge. This is her season to explore and embrace a different, darker side of herself and the world.
This piece pairs with “Rise.”
Signed, varnished, and finished with an ornate gold frame. Canvas measures 24”x36” and frame measures 29”x41”.
