Set of Two
These two pieces were inspired by the goddess Persephone, who we associated with the changing of the seasons.
In “Rise” we see the figure dressed in white, facing toward the light, signaling a new beginning. In her hand are tulips, a symbol of Spring. They have yet to open. This is just the beginning and she has time yet to flourish in this new season of awakening and growth.
In “Fall” we see the figure dressed in black, facing away from the light, signaling the end of Summer and her fall back into darkness. In her hand is a pomegranate, a symbol of temptation, pulling her deeper down. She has time now to indulge. This is her season to explore and embrace a different, darker side of herself and the world.
Signed, varnished, and finished with matching ornate gold frames. Canvases each measures 24”x36” and frames measures 29”x41”.
